How does a tungsten heater work? In a high-vacuum environment, the tungsten heater is heated by applying an electric current, raising its temperature to a level sufficient to overcome the electron work function. Once a sufficient temperature is reached, electrons in the metal gain enough energy to overcome the work function barrier and are emitted from the material surface, forming an electron flow, which is known as thermionic emission. By adjusting the heating current, the electron emission intensity can be controlled to achieve stable electron beam output.
